Great Beer!

As usual we have scoured the UK to secure new breweries for the 'CBF' and we’ve managed to source 22 out of the 48 beers we'll serve on the day from these new suppliers.

With the temperatures set to be in the high 20’s we’ve reduced the number of dark beers but still have a stout, a mild, a porter and two black beers available. Most of the range are pale and golden beers with 10 available below 4% abv for those looking to enjoy a long day in the sun.

But we know you like to experiment! We’re intrigued to have secured a 10% beer from Burton Bridge Brewery as one of 10 beers above 5% ABV. Treat with respect.

We also have a dedicated stand selling Cotswold Lager next to the Aunt Sally World Championship. This is an experiment to support fund raising for the building of a new Charlbury Football and Social Club.

The highlight of the beer line up will be the return of Ian Faulkner from Hamburg with four German craft beers from his Simian Ales brewery. Ian was brought up in Charlbury and sent two beers over last year on a pallet which were seriously impressive. This year we’ve extended the range and he has driven them over himself. To personalise further, Ian asked ex-school mates from Chipping Norton secondary school to brew a beer just for our festival. It’s a 6% beer named Local Legend after the mythical black puma sometimes spotted in Charlbury.

So, we’re providing a unique beer, created by Charlbury old boys, lovingly transported from Hamburg and still only £1.67 for a half pint! Which other Beer Festival offers that?
